MY WORK

Redefining The Voice

A common misconception about hospice care is that service is focused on the final days or hours of life. In truth, hospice care is about quality of life, personal autonomy, and each individual's needs and goals.

When I began working with Hospice of the Northwest, my first task was to redefine the voice of the organization, from fresh branding to messaging focused on living every moment with compassion, dignity, and comfort. We transitioned the organization away from dark, earthy images and began focusing on people with options, possibilities, and hope.

System Way Finding Project

For many years, navigation within our healthcare facilities has been a significant barrier in the patient experience. This problem was without an owner, so I put forward a project plan and developed a strategy to address it.

The first phase created a system of panels within Skagit Valley Hospital that created line of site from any public space within the facility. Additionally, we created a parking lot strategy across the Mount Vernon campus that identified lots geographically, with color and icon designations. The project has since grown into a system initiative impacting multiple locations.

A Strategy Transformation

Much of my work at Skagit Regional Health has focused on transforming the marketing strategy to be data-driven and utilize modern tools. Significant investment was made to elevate the content across the spectrum and begin telling compelling patient stories through strong images and video.

Additionally, we implemented a robust digital marketing strategy that included search engine marketing, a mobile-first system website to replace multiple facility sites, online reputation management, and several targeted initiatives to drive volumes toward key service lines.

Epic Implementation

I led the communication piece of a $75M Epic Implementation for Skagit Regional Health. This kind of software transition impacts every fiber of an organization. The communication plan was massive, dynamic, and targeted.

I was brought into this project on my second day at the organization, starting about six months later than is ideal for an undertaking of this size.
